Year 10 Stormont Visit
This week Year 10 pupils had the opportunity to visit Parliament Buildings at Stormont as part of the Local and Global Citizenship programme. This allowed pupils to develop their knowledge and understanding of democracy and active participation as well as appreciate the historical significance of the building. Pam Cameron MLA, Trevor Clarke MLA and John Dallat MLA spoke to the pupils and invited questions. Pupils quizzed the MLAs in relation to Brexit, equal marriage and the Irish language act. Pupils also had the opportunity to take part in a debate in the chamber and voted verbally and using the division lobby. Issues debated were the wearing of school uniform and whether mobile phones should be permitted in schools.
