The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award - Bronze Practice

On Saturday 11 May, a group of 36 pupils met at Glenariff Forest Park to start their Bronze Practice Expedition for The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.

The weather forecast was looking good which is always a bonus.  The 7 groups walked until around 3.00pm (some groups were much faster than others) and when they reached the campsite for the evening they were able to pitch their tents and cook on the trangias - pasta was definitely the most popular menu choice!

Overnight is was very cold but everyone was up early and the first group started walking again at 8.30am.  There were a few sore legs, blisters and a little sunburn but everyone made it to the finish point.

Congratulations to everyone on completing their practice expedition and I hope you are all looking forward to your qualifying expedition in Glenwherry in a couple of weeks’ time.
