Duke of Edinburgh Gold Practice Expedition

The Gold Duke of Edinburgh group have successfully completed their Practice Expedition in the Mourne Mountains over the weekend. The group had to deal with atrocious weather on Friday before arriving at camp that night soaked but still positive. There was a brief respite in the weather for them to cook their dinner and to get the tents set up.

Although the forecast for Saturday was better, it was very misty first thing in the morning and their boots and clothing still had not dried out from Friday’s rain. Despite these challenges, they all did amazingly well and were delighted to get to the campsite at Tollymore to have hot showers and food after another gruelling day.

The Pathways' leaders commented on how impressed they were with the pupils' resilience and perseverance.

Well done to all!
