Community Christmas Lunch

At Antrim Grammar School we know the importance of including ourselves in the community and so this Christmas we wanted to share the festive spirit. For this reason, 30 Year 12 students and their Year Tutors spent the past few weeks organising a Christmas Lunch for 12 senior citizens from the area. This lunch fell on the 11th December 2018 and all those involved, student and writer alike, agree it was a phenomenal success.

The students devoted their time to ensuring that the event was meticulously planned, from the budgeters who spent their evening shopping for supplies, to the decorators who transformed the conference room into a centre of festivity, to the waitresses, who alongside the delicious meals prepared by our canteen staff, offered smiles and friendly conversation. Thanks must also go to the meet and greet team which ensured our guests' comfort from the moment they first stepped foot into the school, and the planning committee, which worked to guarantee the day's success.

After the meal our guests enjoyed an array of music prepared and performed by the talented students at Antrim Grammar School and were delighted when an unexpected visitor arrived with presents at the lunch's culmination - Santa! All our guests agreed that the day was a wonderful first taste of the holiday season and they were overjoyed with the pupils' kindness. Our students enjoyed every part of the day although they could not have done it without the help of their Year Tutors. We hope to recreate it with as much success in future years and hope to have such lovely guests again.
