Art Dept Christmas Tree

The Art and Design department were asked to submit an Alternative Christmas Tree for All Saints Church Christmas Tree Festival. The festival took place at All Saints church in Antrim from Thursday 30th November until Sunday 3rd December. The Venerable Dr. McBride had assigned us a theme based around a poem and carol by Christina Rossetti, "Love came down at Christmas".  We were delighted to have been given such a wonderful piece of writing as our starting point.

We used a paper corset as our base, which was produced by a past pupil, then used papier-mâché to attach lines and keywords from the poem. The skirt was constructed from a cut up garland and the decoration used mini scrolls of Rossetti's poem with a beautiful corsage made by Cliona Agnew, one of our talented Year 13 pupils. The skirt element was decorated by ceramic dove embossed with keywords from the poem, expertly made by Ms Crilly our expert ceramicist and some of her junior school pupils. The dress was a real team effort with Mrs Moore our technician working hard to help with every element.

We were pleased by our design and really enjoyed contributing to such a wonderful community event.
